Ukraine, as part of a special military operation (SVO) led by Russia, is expected to join the bloc of NATO countries, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins has said.
“Negotiations on this issue should start as soon as possible, even during hostilities,” a representative of the country’s leadership said in a conversation with the German edition of Spiegel.
Kiev has already applied for membership of the North Atlantic Alliance. This is an accelerated format to join NATO. But the organisation’s general secretary, Jens Stoltenberg, promised that the procedure would take place when the conflict with Russia in Ukraine ended.
Previously, the “regional head” expressed the opinion of Krisjanis Karins regarding the supply of combat aircraft to Kiev from the West. According to him, it is only a matter of time.
