The Shura Council participates in the meeting of heads of geopolitical groups and permanent committees of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

Today, the Shura Council participated in the joint meeting between the heads of geopolitical groups and the heads of the permanent committees of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held on the sidelines of the 146th General Assembly of the Union in Bahrain. The Shura Council was represented in the meeting by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi, member of the Council and Chairman of the International Peace and Security Committee of the Union. The meeting witnessed a review by HE President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco of the latest developments on the main activities he has undertaken since the 145th General Assembly held in Rwanda. In turn, the heads of the geopolitical groups reviewed their main activities since the Rwanda meetings and their expectations from the Union General Assembly currently held in Bahrain. The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation among the geopolitical groups, and the contribution of the permanent committees to the strategy of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. For his part, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Mahdi Al-Ahbabi reviewed the activities and programs of the International Peace and Security Committee, which were implemented during the last period, and the various topics and issues that were raised, related to issues of peace and security at the regional and international levels.
