Girl, drawing and war

A petition in favor of sixth-grade student Masha Moskaleva from the small town of Efremov in the Tula region has already collected more than a hundred thousand signatures. Federal authorities have yet to react to that fact, and to the situation as a whole, although the scandal that has angered the public has been going on for more than a week.

Recall that Masha drew an anti-war drawing at school. After the teacher’s denunciation, law enforcement opened a criminal investigation against the Russian military against the father of a 13-year-old girl for forgery.

Moskalev senior raises his daughter alone. He is currently under house arrest. The sixth-grader herself is kept in a rehabilitation center called “Youth”, she is practically isolated from society. No one is allowed to communicate with her, including her relatives. Moreover, they refused to give him a phone to communicate.

Meanwhile, the city commission for juvenile affairs filed a lawsuit to restrict the parental rights of Masha’s father. The first meeting is scheduled for March 15.

According to a recent report by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, since the start of the large-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine, more than 8,000 civilians have died, including 488 children.

In Russia, more and more people are being prosecuted under criminal articles from scratch, says Natalya Pelevina, a member of the federal political council of the People’s Freedom Party, a human rights activist. But the story of a 13-year-old girl and her father stands out even in this context, points out Pelevina.

“On the one hand, it fits well into the overall political context of what is happening and, in general, with all the madness that has gripped the country,” she explains. – And on the other hand, it testifies to the insensitivity and insensitivity of the authorities at all levels, be it the courts, the security forces and the list goes on. It is not surprising that the public, not only in Russia, but all over the world, reacted extremely strongly to this.

According to Pelevina, such cases will continue and become more frequent as long as Putin and his entourage remain in power. According to her, they have lost their moral bearings: “… We can only wait for the next breaking of the bottom. It looks like the regime will only get worse, and further, more.”

As for the security forces, which many accuse of being overzealous in this situation, they absolutely fit into the system and simply act within the framework of instructions from above, the human rights activist is convinced.

“It’s just that what seems like an excess compared to the position of a normal person, is the norm for the authorities. Think about it, a girl with a living father becomes an orphan for nothing! .. The authorities lead a monstrous bloody war, and all the actions of the security forces inside the country, in principle, are no longer perceived as something extraordinary ordinary. … Kremlin propaganda spokesmen are already saying that “Ukrainian children have to be killed and Tbilisi can easily be bombed, because there is no Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. What else is there to talk about …”, summarizes Pelevina.

Recall that the editor-in-chief of the RT television channel Margarita Simonyan recently mentioned a possible strike on the Georgian capital in connection with the mass demonstrations against the adoption of the law on foreign agents by the Georgian parliament.

Social psychologist and blogger Aleksey Roshchin notes that, judging by comments on social networks, even among “rabid Putinists and Z-patriots”, the story of Masha Moskaleva sometimes causes rejection.

“Here, as always, the regime is contradicting itself,” said the source of the media. – On the one hand, he seems favorable to spiritual ties and patriarchy. The domestic violence law was decriminalized to maintain family ties. Even at the official level, there have been raids on juvenile justice. And here it turns out that the state itself separates the child from the father because of a worthless affair. People don’t know what to think anymore.”

Moreover, the elderly, who, as the blogger reminds us, constitute an important electoral support of the Putin regime, associate anti-war cartoons with their own childhood, underlines Roshchin.

“They themselves once drew similar posters, sang the ‘sun circle’, and in the subcortex of their consciousness it was preserved that it was fine, normal. And the government rudely tells them that other standards have now been set. In general, the Kremlin in this case is clearly working against itself, but taking no steps to calm the situation. This story baffles even full-time propagandists. But the repressive machine, it seems, simply has no reverse gear. Sometimes, you have the impression that he acts alone, on automatic pilot…”, says the source of the Russian service of the “Voice of Amenika”.
