KAHRAMAA launches Tarsheed Awards competitions for the year 2023

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department (Tarsheed), announced the launch of eleven competitions at the local and international levels, aimed at encouraging the adoption of procedures and practices to support environmental sustainability and rationalize energy and water consumption.

A statement by Kahramaa today stated that the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department (Tarsheed) has started receiving participation requests from all categories, which include government and private sectors and individuals, as it will receive participation requests until next April 10, through the Tarsheed page on the website. The Foundation announced three international competitions and eight other local ones, covering a wide range of specializations and categories, as it includes a prize dedicated to rational buildings, aiming to spread awareness about the concept of rational building among all segments of society and introducing them to the benefits of applying sound practices to rationalize electricity and water in construction, in order to motivate subscribers. To adopt rationalization practices in the construction market.

Participants are also competing for the Best Water Recycling Initiative award, which comes from the Foundation’s concern for water security in the State of Qatar and as part of efforts to conserve water and enhance its efficient use.

The awards also include a competition for the best school project on sustainability and energy efficiency, in cooperation with KidZania Qatar, which comes within the framework of the Foundation’s keenness to cooperate with the educational sector, and to encourage research among school students in bringing about significant and sustainable positive change, to raise awareness of the five sustainable development goals and their importance for the future. .

In a related context, the Corporation announced an award for the best graduation project on energy efficiency, which aims to encourage Qatari university students to take an interest in energy efficiency issues, especially among engineering students, as well as an award for the best performance of the district cooling system, looking to encourage best practices and innovations. and solutions that increase the value and effectiveness of district cooling systems, as well as a competition for the best sustainable building design aimed at spreading awareness about the concept of guided building design among individuals, consulting offices and contracting companies.

The competitions also include an award for the best smart application in the field of sustainability, in which developers of high-quality applications that help provide a service related to energy efficiency or entertainment applications that serve this purpose compete. The awards also include a competition for the best innovative idea in energy efficiency, which aims to support creative and innovative thinking by presenting an idea for an innovative and executable project that adds value on energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles or environmental sustainability.

This year’s competitions include a competition for the best sustainable camp, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and aims to encourage the adoption of rationalization and energy efficiency methods in camps or estates. Efficient use and follow the conditions and standards of sustainable development. In addition to a competition for the highest use of electric cars, to motivate members of the Qatari community to use electric cars to ensure the reduction of carbon emissions and to raise awareness of the electric charging stations that Tarsheed is working to spread in all regions of the State of Qatar.

The launch of these competitions comes within the framework of the great efforts made by the Foundation to achieve environmental sustainability, and a translation of the country’s endeavors in this regard, in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 in sustainable environmental development and the Qatar National Strategy for Environment and Climate Change 2021/2026.
