Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

North Korea warns of nuclear attack with drones and missiles

Seoul: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned on Friday that his cruise missile tests this week should be seen as a nuclear attack, calling on his rivals to be “left in a lurch”. North Korea has ramped up its weapons testing since the start of large-scale military exercises by the US and South Korean military last week. North Korea calls this military exercise a rehearsal for war, while the US and South Korea call these military exercises exercises to increase defensive measures.

Pyongyang’s official agency said Kim supervised a three-day exercise in which nuclear strikes were practiced against enemy naval assets and ports. The destruction of nuclear weapons was also practiced in these tests. The KCNA said the drills were intended to warn the US and South Korea of a “nuclear threat” as their “deliberate, persistent and provocative war drills” continue, which North Korea regards as a rehearsal for war.

The news comes hours after South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol vowed to make amends for North Korea’s “absurd provocation”. KCNA said the latest exercise confirms North Korea’s capability to launch an underwater nuclear attack.
