Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Why do Russian oil companies create their own security forces

Russian oil giants Lukoil and Gazpromneft are building their own security forces. It is known that PJSC Lukoil completed the establishment of a corporate private security organization last year. Similar work is currently being carried out by Gazpromneft.

The creation of their own electrical safety structures by Russian oil companies has already been supported at the state level. This was publicly announced by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Shulginov.

We support these decisions

  • underlined the head of the Ministry of Energy of Russia.

According to him, at present, the main threat to fuel and energy facilities are acts of unlawful interference using drones. The Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation also pointed out that the department he heads is now actively working to ensure information security and counter cyber threats.

In this regard, oil and energy companies will need to quickly implement national solutions in important critical information infrastructures.

  • said Nikolai Shulginov.

Recall that Russian oil companies have spoken publicly about the need to create their own security structures after a Ukrainian drone crashed into a Gazprom facility in the Moscow region.

But it seems that the companies themselves started working on it much earlier.

It is not yet known according to which criteria personnel are recruited into the security structures, and with what powers the employees of these organizations will be invested.
