Ministry of Awqaf: Completion of the electronic screening process for Hajj candidates

Today, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced that the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs has completed the electronic screening process for selecting applicants to perform Hajj for this year 1444 AH, according to specific requirements approved by the Department. The registration process for those wishing to perform the ritual ended on Sunday 20 Shaaban 1444 AH, corresponding to March 12, 2023. In its statement of the criteria followed by the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs when considering the applications of applicants, the Ministry indicated that priority was given to Qataris who had not previously performed the Hajj. And residents, in addition to the elderly, as well as those who did not obtain approvals in the past, with the focus of the selection process on the basic pilgrim, who is the main applicant to perform the Hajj. The Ministry indicated that after the sorting process was completed, the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs sent text messages (SMS) to people whose requests to perform Hajj were accepted, to enable them to communicate and register with the offices of approved Hajj campaigns, and to complete the required procedures. The Ministry noted that the approvals are given for a period of one week only, during which it is necessary to register with one of the approved campaigns, and sign a contract with them, as 19 campaigns have been authorized to operate. Within the framework of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ preparations for this year’s Hajj and Umrah season, His Excellency Mr. Ghanem bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, met last month with a number of licensed Qatari Hajj campaign owners, with the aim of providing full support for them and the country’s pilgrims, and facilitating registration and approval procedures. And other related administrative procedures, to ensure the readiness and safety of pilgrims.
