According to Hindu mythology, Sri Lanka was the kingdom of the ten-headed demon king Ravana, who abducted Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, the great hero of the Tretayuga. As per reports, the Ramayan circuit is going to be made in Sri Lanka as well. This is the place where the feet of Raghuvar Shriram was lying. Sita Circuit will also be a center of attraction for tourists. The special thing is that there is also talk of allowing Indian currency for the transactions of Indian tourists.
Legend has it that Lord Rama, with the help of Hanuman and the Vanara army, fought a great battle to rescue Sita and defeat Ravana. There are many interesting stories related to Sri Ram in Sri Lanka even today. As per reports, Sri Lanka is in the process of revamping the Ramayana circuit which includes a separate Sita circuit. Not only this, but the possibility of allowing the Indian Rupee (INR) for transactions on the Sri Lankan island is also being discussed.
Many interesting places related to the Ramayana period
There are many places in Sri Lanka that are associated with the Ramayana period. Some of the popular Ramayana trails in Sri Lanka include Sigiriya. There is an ancient stone fort here, which is said to be the palace of King Ravana. Ravana is said to have kept Sita captive in a cave near the Sigiriya rock. It is also the first choice of tourists in Sri Lanka. Ashok Vatika is another popular attraction in the city of Nuwara Eliya. It is believed that this was the place where Ravana kept Sita captive. It is said that Hanuman met Sita here and gave her the ring of Lord Rama.
Sita Mata’s fire test took place here
Ravana Ella Falls is also one of the popular spots. This spring in the town of Ella is believed to be the place where Ravana first hid Sita after abducting her. Divurumpola Temple is a temple near the town of Bandarwala. There is a belief about this place that Sita Mata had given the fire test here to prove her purity.
