The Murmansk region entered the TOP 10 regions in terms of socio-economic sustainability

The Kola Arctic was among the leaders in terms of socio-economic sustainability in 2022. The region took 8th place in the ranking.

The Murmansk region entered the TOP 10 constituent entities of the Russian Federation in terms of socio-economic sustainability in 2022. This was reported in the press service of the government of the region.

The rating was compiled by the Civil Society Foundation based on data from the Ministry of Finance, Rosstat, the Federal Tax Service and the Federal Treasury.

The Murmansk region is located in 8th position, overtaking St. Petersburg and the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the top ten. The KhMAO turned out to be the most stable region, followed by the Magadan region. Third place was shared by NAO and Chukotka. Among the leaders are also Moscow, Sakhalin, KhMAO and Yakutia.

According to Forgo chief Konstantin Kostin, the northern resource-producing regions have proven to be the best in terms of stability due to the relatively high volume of production per capita and high wages.
