One person died in the Netherlands following a train derailment

Man killed in Dutch train derailment

Following the derailment of a passenger train in the Netherlands, one person was killed and around 30 others were injured. This was reported in the security service of the Central Holland region.

The incident happened near the village of Voorschoten around 4:25 a.m. Moscow time on Tuesday, April 4. Most of the victims were treated on the spot, the most seriously injured people were taken to hospital.

In total, there were 50 to 60 people in the damaged train. According to eyewitnesses, the front part of the train derailed, while the central part fell to the side and a fire broke out at the rear. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Due to the accident, the movement of trains on this section was suspended.
