Peskov accepted the proposal of the head of the Human Rights Council of the Russian Federation to create an analogue of Wikipedia

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the words of the head of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia, Valery Fadeev, who advocated the closure of Wikipedia on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Before closing access to Wikipedia in Russia, it is necessary to create an analogue that will contain verified information, believes Peskov.

“In different forums and at different levels, the view has repeatedly been expressed that we need an analogue of Wikipedia. (…) We know that Wikipedia contains many distortions, untruths, historical and factual errors,” Peskov said.

Previously, on April 4, the head of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the leadership of the Russian President, Valery Fadeev, proposed to close the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, but before that, to create its alternative. According to him, the online encyclopedia contains many distortions of political and historical facts.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maxim Shadayev, said that Wikipedia could be replaced by the national multimedia platform Knowledge.
