During the day, four northerners did not believe the scammers and kept their money

April 5, 2023

Phone scammers continue to operate in the territory of the Murmansk region, but the northerners are increasingly vigilant and less and less trained in their tricks. On the last day, April 4, four Arctic residents were able to save their money.

Northerners were notified by telephone of the crashes that allegedly involved their relatives and friends. The scammers tried to convince residents over the phone that they had to pay to save their loved ones from trouble. At the same time, the potential victims of fraudsters remained adamant and did not give their savings to anyone.

Fraudsters demanded quite large sums of money: from 270 to 900 thousand rubles. Northerners were only able to save their savings because they were already aware of these divorce schemes.

According to the press service of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Murmansk region, criminal proceedings have now been opened on all facts of the incidents. The maximum penalty for offenders is six years in prison.

Earlier, The Eastern Herald in Murmansk said an Arctic resident lost her life savings due to the installation of a suspicious app.
