Financial Times publishes details of NATO talks on Ukraine membership
A number of members of the North Atlantic Alliance oppose the idea of accepting Ukraine into this military-political bloc. The Financial Times writes about it, citing sources in diplomatic circles.
Ukraine’s joining the alliance has been opposed by Hungary, Germany and the United States. They believe it is too early for Kiev to talk about joining NATO. In addition, these countries criticized the proposal of Poland and the Baltic republics on the faster entry of Ukraine into the alliance.
Recall that this week there was a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries on the question of what can be offered to Ukraine. Disagreements emerged over whether to offer Kiev a roadmap to join the alliance at the NATO summit in Vilnius, scheduled for July 2023.
