Russian cyclist Anastasia Voinova has interrupted her sports career.
As Voinova said in an interview with Match TV, she took maternity leave. Moreover, this decision is due to the fact that Russian runners cannot participate in international competitions.
“I continue to believe that our sport will return to the international stage and we will show it to everyone, but I specifically lack the motivation to start only in Russian competitions,” she said.
Voinova, 30, performs on the track. She is a double Olympic medalist in the team sprint: silver in 2016 and bronze in 2021. In addition, she is 4 times world champion and 13 times European champion.
