The Alley of Arctic Heroes will be inaugurated in Arkhangelsk in August

This information was expressed at the scientific and practical conference “Pakhtus Readings”, which took place on April 7 at NArFU.

The conference brought together scientists and historians on natural science and historical topics. This year it is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the end of the first Novaya Zemlya expedition of the Russian navigator, hydrographer, cartographer, explorer of the Barents Sea and the White Sea, the Novaya Zemlya archipelago Petr Pakhtusov.

Sergey Kovalev, president of the Arkhangelsk branch of the Russian Military Historical Society, spoke about the contribution of his colleagues to the renovation of Pakhtusov’s tomb at the Solombala cemetery, and also noted that at the end of august, with their participation, the alley of Arctic Heroes will be opened near the Northern Maritime Museum. Two new busts will be erected there – to Petr Pakhtusov and Vladimir Rusanov.

It should be noted that the youth section is working at the conference for the second consecutive year. This year, 14 schoolchildren from Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk and Plesetsk region took part.
