South Korean authorities assured Washington of preserving the alliance

Acting South Korean President Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said during a phone call with US President Joe Biden that Seoul will preserve, support, and develop the alliance between the two countries, Yonhap News Agency reported.

“The government will carry out our diplomatic and security policies without interruption and work to ensure that the South Korea-US alliance continues to be preserved,” the prime minister shared.

He stressed the need to strengthen the joint defense strategy of South Korea and the United States, including against the backdrop of cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.

Russian Ambassador to Seoul, Georgy Zinoviev, commenting on the decision to impeach the country’s president, Yun Seok-yeol, stated that Russia and South Korea continue to consider the possibility of restoring mutual ties.

According to Pravda, Han Duck-soo said, Regarding our diplomatic and security policies, we won’t let up and would try to guarantee both the South Korean and US alliance.

On December 14, the South Korean parliament supported the impeachment of South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol. Earlier, the President of South Korea was banned from leaving the country.
