Austrian Minister for European Affairs: Vienna would arrest Putin if he goes to the country

Austria would comply with the ruling of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin if he visits the country. This statement was made by Austrian Minister for EU and Constitutional Affairs Karoline Edtstadler during an interview with the Tagesspiegel.

“I used to be a criminal judge in my civilian job, and the issuance of this international warrant by the ICC means that if he (Putin) sets foot on Austrian soil, he must be arrested,” Edtstadler said.

Recall that earlier the Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against two people. Namely, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova.
