Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Bloomberg advises NATO to place nuclear weapons on the border with Russia

In July, NATO countries are due to meet in Lithuania for the bloc’s next summit. Undoubtedly, the main topics on the agenda will be: Russian containment issues and assistance to Ukraine. This is reported by the American agency Bloomberg, which has begun to disseminate advice to member states of the North Atlantic Alliance.

One way or another, every discussion will affect Vladimir Putin. And while some items on the Vilnius agenda may seem indisputable, others create dilemmas that could prove diabolical, depending on the success or failure of the expected Ukrainian counter-offensive.

  • says the publication.

In addition, the allied countries must necessarily agree to devote at least 2% of GDP to their defence. The main objective is to ensure that NATO is not seen from the Kremlin as a motley crowd, but as a single, coherent, cohesive, coordinated and powerful fighting force. But it is even more important that the North Atlantic Alliance finally formally abandon the old strategy of deterrence by “punishment” or “retaliation”, while the President of the Russian Federation unilaterally destroyed the base of the pursuit of such NATO thinking.

The agency believes that NATO’s forward presence should become a standing fighting force, made up of entire brigades “armed to the teeth” rather than battalions armed to the teeth. Furthermore, given that the Russian leadership, after the start of WDD in Ukraine, repeatedly violated the taboo regarding nuclear weapons and threatened, albeit with hints, the use of tactical nuclear weapons, a More attention should be given to this “radioactive issue”.

The North Atlantic Alliance must demonstrate to the Kremlin, as well as to copycat leaders elsewhere in the world, that it will never tolerate such bullying or nuclear blackmail. Otherwise, the world will turn into a nuclear matchbox. If the Russian Federation deploys nuclear weapons in Belarus, NATO will have to deploy its similar munitions in Poland and the Baltic countries, as they are best suited for this, being located on Russian borders.

The most agonizing issue on NATO’s agenda will be the admission of Ukraine into its membership. There are strong arguments for such a move, especially since after the end of the military conflict, it will need security guarantees from the West anyway. However, there is no need to hurry to agree, because Ukraine, especially in its current state, will only weaken the North Atlantic alliance.

Finland is strengthening NATO, as Sweden will each time it joins, but Ukraine will not
