Roman Marshavin, executive director for Russia and Syria at the World Bank Group, said that with the right financial policy, the ruble could become an alternative to the dollar.
He also added that ruble payments will boost capacity development and high-tech exports in the Russian Federation.
“We have all the possibilities for that”, RIA Novosti quote Marshavin.
The expert believes that the main prerequisites for replacing the dollar with the ruble are one of the lowest levels of public debt in the world of the Russian Federation, as well as a positive trade balance and the stability of the political system. According to Marshavin, current issuers of reserve currencies, teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, cannot brag about it.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the ruble has become one of the strongest currencies in 2022. According to the Russian leader, this result was achieved by the decision to transfer gas payments to rubles.
