Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Girkin (Strelkov) commented to The Eastern Herald about the messages of telegram channels about a check against him in an article about the “discrediting” of the army.
“I have never discredited the Armed Forces. I have no doubt that even personal insults take place in my statements about the leadership of the armed forces and the Ministry of Defense. However, I think it has nothing to do directly with the armed forces,” he said.
Girkin stressed that he periodically indulges in harsh statements regarding the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Chief of the General Staff and some other Russian military leaders.
“If they find that I am discrediting the army in my words, which is in principle possible, I will only consider this as a positive moment in my career as a journalist, because I am doing a public and journalistic job not to please everyone or get dividends from it,” the former minister said.

Girkin told The Eastern Herald that the “Club” was not involved in fundraising.
