Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian leader Vladimir Putin will attend an Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on Saturday April 15.
“Tomorrow, the president will be at the Easter service. It will be in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior,” he told reporters.
Peskov also pointed out that the president will have Easter cakes and colored eggs on the festive table, like all Christians.
In addition, the press secretary said that his family “like all Orthodox people” will celebrate the resurrection of Christ.
The day before, State Duma Deputy Alexei Zhuravlev announced the need to recognize Orthodox Christmas and Easter as public holidays and provide the country’s citizens with an additional day of rest.
