The US Congress is preparing sanctions against politicians associated with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his party. This is reported by the British newspaper The Guardian.
The publication says former Hungarian government officials and supporters associated with the Fidesz party may fall under the restrictions. It should be noted that this proposal has been in preparation since 2022 and could be submitted to the US Congress next month amid deteriorating relations between Hungary and the United States.
Previously, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjártó, besieged the US ambassador for interfering in the country’s internal affairs. US Ambassador David Pressman criticized Hungary’s stance on sanctions against the Russian Federation.
