The Tula region government keeps the situation with the fire season under control

April 15, 2023

On April 15, on behalf of Governor Alexei Dyumin, his First Deputy Chairman of the Tula Region Government Vyacheslav Fedorishchev and the Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Tula Region Alexei Pavlov visited the Shchekinsky and Kireevsky districts and inspected the implementation of key measures by local governments during the fire risk period.

Vyacheslav Fedorishchev recalled that on March 23, Alexei Dyumin held a meeting of the commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and for ensuring fire safety in the region.

“In the Tula region, enhanced fire safety measures are in place. This work is under the control of the regional government and heads of municipalities. It is necessary to continue to inform the population about precautionary measures, as well as to improve the material and technical base in the municipalities in order to respond to incidents in a timely manner,” said Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.

Aleksey Pavlov reported that firefighters come out to ignite grass and debris more than 70 times a day. Since the beginning of April, fire transitions to residential buildings have not been recorded. Most fires occur due to careless fire handling in overgrown areas bordering settlements.

He pointed out that a significant increase in fires was recorded in the Shchekinsky, Kireevsky, Belevsky, Chernsky districts and the urban district of Efremov.

“The forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working on maximum alert. Every day there are about 250 pieces of equipment and about a thousand people. Great help is provided by volunteer firefighters and chiefs of the region, who are involved in extinguishing every seventh fire. All fires are extinguished the day they are discovered,” said Alexey Pavlov.

To control the fire risk situation in the region, there is a four-level monitoring system:

  • Daily patrols;
  • Aerial reconnaissance UAV;
  • Surveillance by the Lesohranitel system (8 CCTV cameras);
  • Space monitoring.
