Generation Z refers to young people born between the mid-1990s and 2010. They are increasingly numerous in the labor market. However, studies have shown that they have a very different idea of what a good employer is compared to the previous generation.

According to research, employees under 30 are much less loyal to their employer than older workers. According to labor market expert Julian Stahl of online network Xing, they don’t plan to stay with one employer for long. 14% are actively looking for a job. Conversely, 65% are not worried about their future due to the lack of skilled workers. “Therefore, in professional circles, people of this generation are already considered the most disloyal workers ever,” Stahl said. “Flexibility and agility are at the heart of our priorities.”

Xing commissioned several surveys from the Forsa polling institute. During the interview, several thousand employees were asked about their intention to change jobs or about their level of appreciation of what they do. According to the data received, companies today face new challenges, such as how to retain employees.

Representatives of the so-called Generation Z (GenZ), which is increasingly present in the labor market, express their wishes for an easier working process. This is often, for example, a four-day week with full wage compensation; possibility of academic leave; home office and so-called work options – a combination of work and vacation. At the same time, career advancement within the company plays a much less important role for them than it used to and still does for millennials. are increasingly setting the tone in the job market,” says Stahl. “If you don’t think about perks like a home office, a job, or a sabbatical, give up hope of attracting as an employer.”

In most cases, however, one of the reasons for wanting to change jobs was too low a salary (49% of respondents) and too high a stress level (42%). 27% are considering changing jobs due to dissatisfaction with company management. 38% quit their job out of sheer adventurism – they wanted change.
