The G7 foreign ministers, in a joint statement following the meeting in Japan, criticized Russia for spreading allegedly false information “to garner support for its actions in Ukraine”.
In the published document, the G7 countries “expressed their concern” about the growing threats posed by foreign interference, including disinformation “aimed at disrupting democratic processes and destabilizing societies”.
“We strongly condemn Russia for the widespread dissemination of disinformation and the manipulation of information to garner support,” RIA Novosti quotes the text of the document.
The day before, the foreign ministers of the G7 countries agreed to maintain anti-Russian sanctions and continue to support Ukraine. Countries will also cooperate to strengthen enforcement of restrictive measures.
