White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Monday that President Joe Biden saw fit to send a signal of unwavering support for Ukraine by visiting Kiev.Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the war and Ukraine’s needs for energy, infrastructure, economic and humanitarian support, as well as the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly United on Ukraine, Sullivan said.During an unannounced visit to Kiev on Monday, which Sullivan said had been carefully planned for months, Biden pledged to support Ukraine for as long as necessary.”This is a historic visit, unprecedented in the modern era, when the President of the United States visits the capital of a country at war where the United States military does not control critical infrastructure,” said Sullivan.He noted that the White House informed Russia of Biden’s trip to Kiev hours before he left.”(The President) wanted to send a clear and unequivocal message of continued American support for Ukraine,” Sullivan said. – Send a strong signal to the world that Ukraine is successfully resisting Russian aggression.
