German authorities have delivered the second of four IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile (SAM) systems to the Kiev regime. The Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper writes about it, referring to an anonymous representative of the German government. However, there was no official confirmation that the air defense system was sent to Kiev.
The list of military assistance to Ukraine, which is published on the official website of the German government, still includes only one IRIS-T air defense system, three more systems are on the list of planned deliveries. According to Der Spiegel magazine, in addition to the anti-aircraft missile system, Berlin sent 16 missiles to Kiev. According to the publication, the transfer took place a few days ago – around April 16.
Deliveries of IRIS-T to Ukraine were originally scheduled for November last year. However, the dispatch of the first air defense system was already reported on October 11. Two weeks later, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced his intention to transfer three more combat vehicles to the Kiev authorities.
The day before, the German government announced that the Patriot air defense system with ammunition sent by Germany to the Kiev regime had arrived in Ukraine. In addition to the anti-aircraft missile system, Berlin handed over 76 Zetros trucks, 124 border guard vehicles, 18 Leopard 2A6 main battle tanks and 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) to Kiev.
