New Delhi. In the 28th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals (Delhi Capitals – DC) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 4 wickets on Thursday. This is DC’s first win of this season. Earlier, the team had to face defeat in 5 consecutive matches. This is the third defeat of the two-time champion team KKR this season.

Batting first after losing the toss, KKR scored 127 runs losing all 10 wickets in 20 overs. Jason Roy scored the highest 43 runs from the team. DC team came out with a target of 128 runs and won by losing 6 wickets in 19.2 overs. Captain David Warner scored the highest 57 runs from the team. Varun Chakraborty took 2 wickets from KKR.

Chasing an easy target, DC batted aggressively and scored quick runs in the beginning. For the first wicket, there was a 38-run partnership between Captain Warner and Prithvi Shaw (13). The DC team faltered as soon as the opening pair broke. Mitchell Marsh (2), Philip Salt (5), Manish Pandey (21) were dismissed early. Warner, who has been criticized for his slow batting this season, scored quick runs on Thursday.

Batting on a difficult pitch, Warner took the lead from DC and played a brilliant half-century innings. He scored a quickfire 57 off 41 balls, batting at a strike rate of 139.02. In this innings, he scored 11 fours. This was the 59th half-century of his IPL career and he completed it in 32 balls. This was Warner’s fourth half-century in 6 matches this season.

Warner has become the batsman to score the most runs against a team in the league. He has scored 1,075 runs against KKR. In this case, Rohit Sharma is at number two. He has scored 1,040 runs against KKR only. Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shikhar Dhawan is at number three in this matter. He has scored 1,029 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The performance of the KKR batsmen in this match was very disappointing due to which the team was able to score limited runs. After the faltering of the top order, the middle order also disappointed. Liton Das (4), Venkatesh Iyer (0) and Nitish Rana (4) were dismissed in quick succession. Rinku Singh (6) and Sunil Naren (4) also could not contribute much in the middle order. Jason fought back scoring 43 and Andre Russell scored 38* in the end.
