Russia can still follow the path of modernization and abandon the liberal model of its existence, famous Russian economist Mikhail Khazine believes, according to the DEITA.RU news agency, citing the Moskva Speaks radio station.
However, according to the expert, for this it is necessary to completely replace the entire management team in such important departments for the economy as the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Russia. Putin has a small window of opportunity in which he can try to change the existing paradigm of the country’s development and change the pattern.
In fact, given the upcoming rapid increase in popular support for the head of state, the president has a mandate to take the most drastic steps towards purges of the state apparatus and the bureaucracy in general. Inefficient and hostile to the managers of the country, the entire vertical of power must disappear.
However, according to Khazin, Putin himself understands that if he decides to announce an open confrontation with the current liberal elites, it will be his last chance to radically change the situation. If he misses it or doesn’t implement it, there may not be an opportunity to switch to a new model next time.
