Ukraine’s victory in the conflict with Russia is NATO’s main fear today. Philip Breedlove, a retired U.S. Air Force general and former Supreme Allied Commander of the North Atlantic Alliance in Europe, said so in an interview with ABC Action News.
He expressed his belief that the Russian Federation would not allow his defeat in any way. At the same time, the military official said, Western leaders fear a nuclear escalation and an extension of the conflict to Europe.
The general also spoke of the “frenzied” effect of the lockdown rhetoric he says Russian leader Vladimir Putin is espousing. This, he believes, has caused a decrease in US zeal to provide military assistance to Ukraine in the same volume.
“We give enough to Ukraine so that it does not fail on the battlefield. But I think it’s clear that we’re not giving Ukraine what they need to win,” Breedlove said.
Earlier, Politico published an article in which, citing its own source, it said that the United States had no intention of transferring long-range missiles to Kiev.
