Sweden has decided to expel five Russian diplomats. This was reported by RT in reference to the head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, Tobias Billstrom.
“Sweden today summoned Russian Ambassador Viktor Tatarintsev and told him that five embassy employees are being asked to leave the country because their activities are incompatible with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. <…> Their activities on our territory were incompatible with their diplomatic status,” the minister said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Moscow would prepare response measures to the incident.
Previously, Germany had decided on the massive expulsion of Russian diplomats. Berlin explained this decision by the desire to reduce the “presence of special services”. The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the German authorities have thus begun to pursue a policy of destroying bilateral relations. Moscow responded to the decision by expelling 20 German diplomats from Russia.
