As you know, for non-sporting reasons, Russia has not practiced almost all sports, especially team sports, for a year. But sometimes there is good news. I was pleasantly surprised by the International Boxing Association (IBA), which admitted Russians and Belarusians to official tournaments. Additionally, boxers will perform with their own flag and anthem. A great success considering modern realities.
According to the Russian Boxing Federation, not only athletes, but also technicians and officials from Russia and Belarus will return to competition.
– All athletes must benefit from the same conditions. The IBA is committed to ensuring that athletes and tournament officials are treated equally, regardless of nationality or place of residence. According to the decision, judges and technical officials from Russia and Belarus will return to the competition and all boxers will compete under their countries’ flags, the Russian Boxing Federation said in a statement.
Note that more than 640 athletes from 104 countries from five continents will take part in the 2023 World Championship. Not without scandals – several countries, including the United States, Ireland, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic and Sweden , refused to come to the tournament. Of course, such a short-sighted decision has nothing to do with sports. However, one should not grieve too much about this either: there will be enough well-known boxers in Uzbekistan who will surely give the public a cool spectacle.
According to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the prize fund has reached an all-time high. So, for “gold” there is a bonus of $ 200,000, for “silver” – 100,000, for “bronze” – 50,000.

Next week, on Wednesday, “Urals” football, led by Belarusian specialist Viktor Goncharenko, may reach the final of the Russian Cup. The Yekaterinburg team will have a return match against CSKA. The first match between these teams in Moscow ended in a draw – 1:1.
Difficult to say in favor of who will play the result of the first meeting. On the one hand, the Urals did not lose on the road to one of the leaders of the Russian Premier League, on the other hand, Goncharenko’s wards missed the victory in the last minutes, missing the point of penalty.
- Considering that we recently played a match with CSKA and that we know the opponent well, we understood perfectly that we were going to pass a real test. The score is a bit disappointing, because we wanted to go home with a victory, in addition we cashed at the very end. But the second fight will take place at the home stadium – this is a positive factor, – said Viktor Goncharenko.
