$21 million in remittances from Jordanians working in Qatar during Eid al-Fitr

Officials of exchange and money transfer companies in Qatar said that the value of transfers of Jordanians working in the country during the blessed Eid Al-Fitr 2023 period amounted to about $21 million (14.8 million dinars), an increase of 14.2 percent from $18 million (12.7 million dinars) compared to the Eid Al-Fitr period. 2022.

In statements to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Thursday, they affirmed that the few days preceding Eid Al-Fitr witnessed a strong turnout of Jordanians working in Qatar to banks and exchange companies to transfer money to their families in Jordan.

Officials of money transfer companies stated that the volume of transfers of Jordanian workers in Qatar during the Eid Al-Fitr period is the highest value of money transfers for Jordanian workers in Qatar compared to any previous period or occasion such as the holidays, given the continued increase in the numbers of the Jordanian community in Qatar, which Recently, its population has been around 70,000, compared to about 60,000 a few years ago.

According to the agency, the Qatari initiative to employ Jordanian youth, in its first and second phases, contributed to increasing the number of the Jordanian community in Qatar, as according to the first phase of the initiative, about 10,000 Jordanians were employed in the government and private sectors in Qatar, which was launched in 2018, while the second phase of the initiative seeks to The initiative to provide a similar number of job opportunities, as since its launch in 2020, several thousand Jordanian youth have been employed.
