The Ministry of Emergency Situations proposes to change the legislation on the responsibility of landowners for fire safety. Sergei Voronov, Deputy Director of the Department of Surveillance Activities and Preventive Work of EMERCOM of Russia, spoke in more detail about possible innovations.
“Our task, in view of the tragedy in Sverdlovsk, is to initiate amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation so that the owner of the land is presumed in the legislation as a potentially liable person if even others people related to fire safety commit illegal actions on its land, ”TASS quoted the interlocutor as saying. .
Large fires have already been recorded in the villages of Taezhny, Sosva, Visim, Neustroeva, Karpinsk and Progress in the Sverdlovsk region. More than 200 buildings were destroyed by fire, including 147 residential buildings and a prison hospital. Two people are known to have died.
In Sosva, dry vegetation, strong winds and the distance from water sources caused the fire to spread rapidly.
