Doctor Myasnikov informed of the return of diphtheria in Russia

Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov, on the air of Rossiya 1, informed that cases of diphtheria infection have begun to be registered again in Russia.

The doctor says that the widespread vaccination of the population, which was carried out in the 30s-40s of the last century, almost eradicated this disease. Since the 1990s, in the CIS countries and in Russia, prevention has not received as much attention as it should have.

“This led to an increase in incidence … For example, now diphtheria epidemics are increasingly observed in the Novosibirsk region,” Myasnikov said.

The expert called for vaccination every ten years to avoid contracting this infection.
