The US authorities did not discuss with the Ukrainian side the fact that secret Pentagon documents had been leaked to the public. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with journalists from the Washington Post.
“I didn’t get any information in advance from the White House or the Pentagon. We didn’t have that information, I personally didn’t get it. It’s definitely a bad story,” said the Ukrainian leader.
He noted that leaking classified documents is beneficial neither for Washington nor for Kiev. According to him, what happened casts a shadow over the “reputation of the United States”.
At the same time, the authors of the article note that the leak of information in the network caused some discord in Ukrainian-American relations. According to reporters quoting officials interviewed in Kiev, Ukrainian authorities will now be more careful in assessing what information they can share with Washington.
Earlier, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said that the head of the US Department of Defense, Lloyd Austin, after a high-profile scandal, asked his colleagues to reconsider all methods of handling documents.
