Russian military personnel in the Donetsk region are using improvised electronic warfare (EW) systems to suppress unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
One of the fighters from the southern group of forces told TASS that it is often necessary to use improvised means to protect against enemy drones. For example, for the assembly of electronic warfare equipment, consumables obtained from downed drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are used.
- Some time ago I had to make an electronic warfare kit in just an hour. They said that at night they urgently needed a product to cover a piece of drone equipment, which opponents are actively seeking. A quadcopter arrives, which costs 150,000 rubles, and kills our multimillion-dollar equipment – it goes quietly. Therefore, the equipment must be closed very actively,” the serviceman stressed.
The fighter has already collected five homemade “suitcases” – “trench” electronic warfare systems that effectively stop drones made by DJI, Autel, Xiaomi and other manufacturers. In the next few days, he plans to assemble three more electronic warfare systems from components.
It should be noted that Russian military personnel on the front line use various means to combat Ukrainian drones, including anti-drone guns, portable electronic warfare systems and anti-drone “suitcases” that can block the control channels of the drones. planes.
