US F-16 crashes south of Seoul

The US Air Force said in a statement that the pilot ejected and was released safely before the fighter crashed, and was taken to the nearest hospital.

“A fighter jet (F-16 Fighting Falcon) crashed in an agricultural area near Osan Air Base at around 9:45 a.m.,” the statement added, in Gunje County.

He stressed that the accident occurred during a routine training mission, and “that an investigation is ongoing”.

Provincial Governor Kim Dong-yeon wrote on Twitter that firefighters had been dispatched to the crash site and the blaze had been extinguished.

Local media reported that the crash caused no casualties or damage as it happened in a rural area.

“There are no civilian dwellings near the crash site, which caused no damage (other than the plane crash),” Yonhap News Agency quoted an official as saying. of the font.
