New Delhi. The Income Tax Department has seized cash and jewelery on a large scale ahead of the assembly elections in Karnataka. The department has seized Rs 15 crore in cash and jewelery worth Rs 5 crore by raiding several locations in the capital Bengaluru and Mysore.
Official sources said in the information given on Saturday that this action has been taken against some people who provided funds to the candidates in the Karnataka assembly elections to be held on May 10. In this action of the Income Tax Department, cash worth Rs 15 crore and jewelery worth Rs 5 crore have been seized.
According to the information, raids were conducted on Friday in the premises of Shanti Nagar, Cox Town, Shivaji Nagar, RMV Extension, Cunningham Road, Sadashiv Nagar, Kumarpark West and Fairfield Layout in the capital Bengaluru. Income Tax officials have seized huge amount of unaccounted cash and jewelery kept in secret hideouts during the raids.
