More than 20 thousand police officers including DGP went out on foot patrol

Bhopal. In order to maintain the sense of general security among the citizens and to increase the visibility of the police, as per the instructions of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the police carried out foot patrolling in the entire state. On Saturday, together with DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena, more than 20 thousand police officers and employees came out on the streets in the entire state and reviewed the law and order. In Bhopal, the DGP along with the officers patrolled about 10 km on foot in two and a half hours and interacted with the citizens. Foot patrolling was done from TT Nagar Police Station to GRP Police Station, Bajaria.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized on the effectiveness of foot patrolling :-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also emphasized on the effectiveness of foot patrolling in the 57th All India Conference of Directors General/Inspectors General of Police held in New Delhi in the month of January. He also mentioned the foot patrolling being done by the Madhya Pradesh Police, along with instructions to further strengthen the traditional police system like foot patrolling etc.

Chief Minister gave instructions to promote policing

Chief Minister Chouhan had recently given instructions in the law and order review meeting that basic policing should be promoted. Emphasis was also placed on foot patrolling to maintain a sense of general security among the general public and to increase the visibility of the police on the roads. He clearly said that Madhya Pradesh is an island of peace. Here the police should be strict against the elements who disturb peace and law and order.

DGP did 10 km foot patrolling in Bhopal:-

Senior officers and police force along with DGP Sudhir Saxena undertook 10 km foot patrolling in congested and sensitive areas of Bhopal. The DGP said that the main objective of the foot patrolling program is to strengthen the sense of security among the common people, to ensure the availability and visibility of the police among the common people.

Police across the state came out on the streets: –

IG/Police Commissioner, DIG/Additional CP, SP/DCP, ASP/Additional DCP, SDOP/Assistant CP and in-charge of about one thousand police stations and outposts of 550 outposts of the state went on foot patrol. Under the guidance of senior officers in the entire state, foot patrolling was done in crowded and sensitive areas of all the districts. Senior officers also interacted with the general public during foot patrolling. During this, he inquired about the problems being faced by the public and gave necessary guidelines for their redressal.

Purpose of foot patrolling:-

Foot patrols increase police visibility in busy areas.

Creates a sense of security in citizens and fear in the minds of criminals.

Builds a communication bridge between the citizens and the police.

Increases the confidence of the general public towards the police.

Criminals and anti-social elements are monitored by the police.

To deal with any untoward incident, the police gets to know about the geographical location.


Strengthens the information system of the police.
