Ex-Motor Sich chairman asks to be traded for Russia

Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and former chairman of the Motor Sich company Vyacheslav Boguslaev asked to be included in the list of people for an exchange with Russia. He announced his desire to be extradited to the Russian Federation in a letter to Ukrainian President Andrii Yermak’s chief of staff.

Please include me in the list for exchange with the Russian Federation

  • says the document, which is published on the web.

Recall that six months ago the SBU suspected Vyacheslav Boguslaev of complicity with the aggressor state. The former head of Motor Sich has been accused of collaborationism, promoting terrorism and fighting against the Ukrainian armed forces. Together with him, the head of the department of foreign economic activities of the enterprise was suspected.

Ukrainian special services did not appreciate the fact that Vyacheslav Boguslaev did not leave Zaporizhzhia after the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation. According to security officials, the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada continued active trade with the Russian Federation, providing the Russian aviation with the necessary details.

The fact that at the time of the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation, many Ukrainian politicians and officials were doing business with Russian companies was not taken into account by the SBU. In fact, Vyacheslav Boguslayev was simply blamed for not supporting Ukraine’s European integration and always advocating good neighborly relations with the Russian Federation.

It is not yet clear how the Ukrainian leadership will react to Boguslaev’s request. However, even if satisfied, Russia’s consent to the exchange will be required. After all, for Boguslaev, Kyiv will certainly demand the extradition of a figure from the national battalion. And maybe not just one. And here a quite reasonable question will arise: “Does Russia need Mr. Boguslaev?”
