Bhopal. The group insurance scheme has been revised for the cleaning staff working in regular pay scale in urban bodies. Now, on the death of a sweeper in an accident, his family will get an insurance amount of five lakh rupees (Sum insured of five lakh rupees). Earlier this amount was Rs 2 lakh. State’s Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh gave this information on Friday.

He said that on normal death, one lakh rupees will be given as before. It may be noted that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to increase the insurance amount on the death of sanitation workers.

Minister Bhupendra Singh said that the contribution of sanitation workers in the insurance scheme will remain Rs 20 per month as before. The remaining amount will be given by the government. The approval of claim cases in the Group Insurance Scheme for Safai Karamcharis will be given by the Directorate of Urban Administration and Development. Orders have been issued in this regard.
