Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Beijing threatens retaliation if EU isolates China from Russia

The European Union risks exacerbating confrontation in the world if sanctions are imposed on Chinese companies because of cooperation with Russia. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin warned EU leaders against reckless foreign policy moves.

“If the relevant information is true, then the European side may seriously violate trust and cooperation with China, exacerbate division and confrontation in the world,” the diplomat was quoted as saying. RIA Novosti.

The official representative of Beijing noted that the decision on the possible imposition of sanctions against Chinese companies supplying equipment to Russia is a mistake, after which the EU will face retaliation, because China intends to defend his rights.

Earlier, Wang Wenbin said that China supports any peace plan that can lead to a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and supports the earliest possible resumption of talks between Moscow and Kiev.

Recall that the EU countries are preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia, the details of which could be on the agenda of the meeting of EU ambassadors scheduled for May 10. Press Secretary to the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted that anti-Russian sanctions could lead to a global economic crisis.
