Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 112 runs in a one-sided match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Sunday due to the brilliant performance of bowlers led by Wayne Parnell after captain Faf Duplesey and Glenn Maxwell’s half-centuries. Gave. With this win, RCB have kept alive their hopes of making it to the play-offs.

The team is running in fifth place with 12 points in 12 matches. The Royals are also sixth with 12 points but have played 13 matches. Chasing RCB’s target of 172, the hosts were bundled out for just 59 runs in 10.3 in front of fine bowling from Parnell (3/10), Michael Bracewell (2/16) and Karn Sharma (2/19). But it piled up. Shimron Hetmyer (35 off 19 balls) was the top scorer for the Royals. Apart from him, only Joe Root (10) could reach double digits. This is the second lowest score of Royals.

Earlier in 2009, the team was reduced to 58 against RCB only. RCB scored 171 for five with Faf du Plessis (55) sharing 50 for the first wicket with Virat Kohli (18) and 69 for the second wicket with Maxwell (54). Anuj Rawat (29 runs in 11 balls, three fours, two sixes) finally took the team’s score to 170 runs by playing a fiery innings.

Adam Jampa 25 from Royals while KM Asif took two wickets for 42 runs. The start of the Royals chasing the target was very bad. The team could manage only 28 runs for five wickets in the power play and could never recover from it. Mohammad Siraj got the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal (0) caught by Kohli at mid-off on the second ball of the innings.

Parnell showed the way to the pavilion in the next over to Jos Buttler (00) and captain Sanju Samson (04). Butler handed a catch to Siraj at cover point while Samson was caught by wicketkeeper Rawat. Devdutt Padikkal (04), who landed as an impact player, was caught by Siraj at midwicket off Bracewell. Parnell bowled Joe Root (10) in the sixth over to give the Royals their fifth blow in the power play. Dhruv Jurel caught Mahipal Lomror at deep midwicket boundary in Bracewell’s next over.

Hetmyer welcomed Karn Sharma with three consecutive sixes but Ravichandran Ashwin (00) was run out on the next ball. Maxwell also broke the Royals’ hopes of getting around RCB’s score by getting Hetmyer caught by Bracewell. The Royals’ score was 59 for eight in 10 overs. Karn dismissed Adam Zampa (02) and KM Asif (00) in the next over to give RCB the win.

Earlier, Du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first and teamed up with Kohli (18 off 19 balls) to get the team off to a cautious start. Both added 42 runs in the power play. Kohli opened the boundary account with a four off Sandeep Sharma in the first over while Duplessis hit a four and a six in Zampa’s over. Du Plessis completed 4000 runs in IPL with a four off Ravichandran Ashwin.

The half-century of RCB’s runs was completed in the seventh over but in the same over, Kohli caught Jaiswal at extra cover off Asif’s ball. Duplesey and Maxwell then decorated the innings. Maxwell looked in good touch from the start. As soon as he came, he hit Ashwin for a six and then Jampa and Yuzvendra Chahal’s ball also made him see the boundary. The century of RCB runs was completed in the 14th over. In the same over, Maxwell hit Ashwin for a six.

Duplessy completed his half-century in 41 balls with a six over Asif but was caught by Jaiswal two balls later. He hit three fours and two sixes while facing 44 balls. Mahipal Lomror (01) caught Jurel in Jampa’s next over. The leg-spinner also lbw Dinesh Karthik (00) in the same over to take RCB from 119 for one to 120 for four.

Maxwell completed his half-century in 30 balls with fours and sixes on Chahal. However, he was bowled by Sandeep in the next over. He hit five fours and three sixes in his 33-ball innings. Anuj Rawat took the team to a challenging score in the last over with two sixes and a four off consecutive balls of Asif.
