Ukrainian special services announced the opening of vacancies in call centers, whose employees engage in telephone fraud and extort money from citizens of Russia and CIS countries. The expansion of the network of fraudulent call centers has been reported to RIA Novosti by a representative of Russian law enforcement, citing SBU sources.
“In the cities of Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia, an additional recruitment of employees has been announced in the so-called” call centers “, the main task of which is to extort money from citizens of Russia and the CEI,” said the expert.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, one can work in fraudulent call centers only on the recommendation and through acquaintances, and in the event of dismissal, the employee’s file is stored in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“If you want to quit, you have to ‘calculate a fine’, which includes the organization’s expenses related to training, equipment use, SIM cards and communication tariffs. In addition, the information on the ‘resigning employee are transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine,’ added the expert.
He also pointed out that the SBU does not skimp on payment for the services of fraudulent call center employees. The monthly salary reaches 65,000 hryvnia (about $1,750). At the same time, even students are hired and housing is provided.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian call center scammers became five times less likely to call Russia after the start of the CBO. In August 2022, call centers of telephone scammers were discovered and liquidated in Berdyansk and Melitopol, Mariupol and in a number of settlements in the Kharkiv region. At the same time, it became known about the desire of special services and criminal communities of Ukraine to move call centers from fraudulent offices to the central and western parts of Ukraine.
