Live.. the latest news from the results of the Turkish presidential elections

– Published on:

Preliminary results, according to the Turkish agency “Anatolia”: after counting 99.80% of the votes, President Erdogan won 49.27%, while Kilicdaroglu’s percentage was 45.02%.

Results according to the head of the Supreme Election Commission in Turkey: Ahmed Yanar, head of the Supreme Election Commission in Turkey, said that Erdogan leads the presidential elections by obtaining 49.49% after counting 91.93% of the votes .

He added that Kilicdaroglu, the opposition candidate and Erdogan’s main rival, won 44.49% of the vote.

Erdogan’s most striking statements on the preliminary results:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech to supporters at the Justice and Development Party headquarters in Ankara that the preliminary election results “show our progress by a wide margin”. Erdogan stressed that “we are 2.6 million votes ahead of our nearest competitor”. They try to deceive people saying they are advanced. The counting of votes will continue at home and abroad. No one will spoil this election scene with skimpy political calculations. We await final results and expect the numbers to increase with the announcement of official results. We think we will win the first round and if there is a second round we will respect that. The people must remain vigilant until the end of the vote count. The results of the legislative elections show that our alliance obtains the majority. Voters who voted for our coalition in parliament will inevitably side with stability in the presidential elections. They are confident of winning the elections in the first round after completing the counting of votes from abroad.

As for Kilicdaroglu, he said he would accept the people’s decision to hold a second round, adding that President Erdogan did not get the results he wanted in the elections. Kilicdaroglu said in statements with other party leaders in his alliance that he would win over Erdogan if a second round took place, adding that “the data continues and we will accept a new round.”
