President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that at the beginning of the special operation Russia was ready to conclude a peace treaty with Ukraine on unfavorable terms.
According to the Belarusian leader, the conditions for the Russian side were unfavorable, but she agreed to them.
“From the first day, Russian parliamentarians have been directly involved in this. We have proposed: let’s sit down at the negotiating table. Well, they kicked each other in the face – let’s talk, let’s stop this war,” BelTA reports with reference to Lukashenka.
He also added that after three rounds, Zelenskyy “was either cramped, or something else,” after which the parties continued to communicate in Turkey, where a draft agreement was proposed.
“If Russia were reading it now, it would go crazy. It was absolutely unprofitable for Russia. But Russia agreed,” Lukashenka said at a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
As soon as the Russian Federation was about to sign the peace initiatives prescribed in the document, the project was “thrown into the trash.”
Therefore, according to Mr. Lukashenko, one should not discuss Russia and Belarus in confrontation, but should return to the negotiating table and take a new document to stop hostilities.
Recall that the negotiations between the warring countries were stopped in the spring of 2022. The last face-to-face meeting of the two delegations took place in Istanbul on March 29, but after Russia announced the annexation of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, Volodymyr Zelensyy announced his refusal to negotiate with our country while Vladimir Putin is its president, writes “b” .
