Russian Interior Minister visits Saudi Arabia

October 2, 2025

Kolokoltsev’s visit to Riyadh came days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a speech at the Arab League summit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday.

The visit confirms that Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states have ties with Moscow amid the war in Ukraine, according to the Associated Press.

And the official Saudi news agency, “SPA”, reported that the Russian Interior Minister met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud.

The agency added, without going into details, “during the session, they discussed ways to improve avenues of security cooperation between the interior ministries of the two countries, in addition to discussing a number of matters of common interest”.

It should be noted that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked the Kingdom to play the role of a potential negotiator between Kiev and Moscow to end the war.

The prince said at the Arab summit that Saudi Arabia stands ready to continue mediating between Russia and Ukraine and to support all international efforts to end the crisis.
