Maharashtra: Silent march taken out in memory of Shraddha Walkar.

Palghar. In Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a large number of people took out a silent march in memory of Shraddha Walkar and demanded strict action against the accused. Shraddha was allegedly strangulated to death by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla in Delhi on May 18 last year and her body was cut into 35 pieces and kept in a refrigerator for three weeks.

He then stashed these pieces in different parts of the national capital for several days. In a march taken out on Wednesday evening from Shraddha’s residence to the tehsil office in her native town Vasai, people carrying banners and placards called for swift and stern action against the accused. Shraddha’s father Vikas Walkar was carrying his daughter’s picture during the silent march.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya also participated in this march. He was seen holding a placard which read ‘Shraddha Lakkarat Lakkar Nyay Dya’ ie ‘Give justice to Shraddha at the earliest’. Shraddha’s father told reporters that a year has passed since the brutal murder of his daughter. He expressed grief over not being able to perform the last rites of his daughter. Also demanded strict action against the accused Aftab. Vikas Walkar also demanded action against the police for the alleged delay in registering the case.
