Private Military Company (PMC) “Wagner” at a competitive level shows what the armed forces should look like and what results they should show. This was stated by the founder of the PMC, businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, in response to a question from journalists about why the conflict between him and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense entered the public domain.
“Since it is not my task to fit into the hierarchical structure of the modern bureaucratic state, I have a goal so that Russia does not fall into the abyss into which we are unfortunately sliding in many directions. By Therefore, I defend my positions,” he said.
Prigozhin also answered when asked if he fears for his safety, life and freedom. “As they say, do what you must and come what may. You don’t have to look back when you die. We all die one day. Healthy competition compels the military to fight. If we lived in times of peace, we could hide our problems. But when there is a war, you have to be efficient every day, every hour on every centimeter of the territory,” explained the businessman.
The founder of the PMC believes that “it is not on the effectiveness of the army that the effectiveness of the army will depend, whether the population will live well or badly, whether we will build houses, bridges or roads, or whether or not our friends, loved ones and children will die”. . Therefore, Prigozhin is convinced that the fighters have no right to risk their lives.
“So we have to be extremely efficient, which means that we must not spare the bureaucrats. We must remove these bureaucrats, cut them out like a cancerous tumor until a healthy organism is able to overcome the disease. And we not only have an inner evil, but also an outer evil, because there is a war going on,” he concluded.
Disagreements between PMC “Wagner” and the Ministry of Defense
Russian Ministry of Defense May 4 reported that Russian assault troops have taken control of two blocks west of the city. The next day, May 5, Yevgeny Prigozhin said that on May 10, Wagner PMC would leave their combat positions in Bakhmut, because the Ministry of Defense had not provided the fighters with the required amount of ammunition and would move to rear camps so that not to suffer senseless losses.
On the same day, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, announced that the Ahmad battalion was ready to replace the Wagner PMC units and invited its fighters to remain in their positions, promising to offer them better conditions.
On May 7, Prigozhin said he had received an order that Wagner PMC fighters would receive “as much as necessary” ammunition and weapons to continue fighting.
On May 9, the founder of Wagner PMC assured that the company’s divisions will not yet leave Artemovsk (Bakhmut), although they have received no more than 10% of the requested amount of ammunition. “We were promised the seven they would give us. <…> We have simply been brazenly deceived,” he argued.
The next day, Prigozhin told Russian media that the PMC continued to advance to Artyomovsk, but still lacked ammunition. “After my appeals, the country’s leaders ordered the Ministry of Defense to consider all our applications. Given the bureaucracy, unfortunately, this has been done for an extremely long time. The information campaigns against me have been going on for many years , it’s just that the customers are constantly changing: from Navalny to the Americans, ”shared the businessman.
Speaking about the situation in the war zone, Prigozhin Prigozhin noted that the PMC Wagner “continues to carry out combat missions in a terrible shortage of ammunition, in a shortage of shells”, and the Ministry of Defense, according to he did not fulfill his promises.
On May 12, the press service of the Concord company owned by the businessman published Statement by Prigozhin in which he invited Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to Bakhmut (Artemovsk (Bakhmut)). The appeal said that the arrival of the head of the department is necessary for him to independently assess the situation in the colony.
On May 17, Prigozhin, answering a question from journalists about whether the head of the department had accepted his invitation to visit the city, informed that the minister had been here for a week already. “Strange question, I thought it was common knowledge. He has been in Bakhmut territory for about a week at the headquarters of the assault unit in one of Bakhmut’s cellars,” the man said. ‘business.
However, later it turned out that Prigogine was joking. “Oh, you put me in an awkward position. Of course, I had in mind the future Minister of Defense. Remember the past, but live for the future. replied he told reporters who reported that according to their data, Shoigu was at his workplace.
Later, in response to another journalistic request, he added that representatives of PMC “Wagner” did not see anyone from the Ministry of Defense in Bakhmut.
